About Us

A Time for Renewed Oregon Republicanism

In Oregon’s 5th Congressional District, we’re reigniting the spirit of Oregon Republicanism—where freedom, personal responsibility, and public service come first—and combining it with the bold momentum of today’s America First movement.

We champion practical, locally grounded solutions to the big issues facing our nation: jumpstarting our economy, securing our borders, reforming our schools, and achieving true energy independence. Our vision blends Oregon’s legacy of thoughtful, collaborative leadership with a renewed focus on national sovereignty, working-class prosperity, and American strength.

From our forests to our farmlands, our coastlines to our communities, we are united by shared values and a deep commitment to restoring common sense in government. Inspired by historic Oregon Republican leaders—and powered by a movement that puts Oregon and America first—we’re ready to lead with purpose and deliver real results.

Leadership

Jon Wright

Chair

It is in Oregon that I "grew up" - going to high school and college in Klamath Falls.  Serving both our State and Country as a member of the Oregon Air National Guard.  I am happily married for nearly 30 years to my high school sweetheart that I met 'Cruising Main' in 1991.  I am the proud father of three grown children and a grandfather of two (so far.)

Angelita Sanchez

Vice chair

Under my leadership, Timber Unity has stood up to the extreme left and won. We started tilling the fallow ground in 2019. In 2020 we defeated Cap and Trade and the banning of diesel equipment and rigs. We flipped county commission, state representative and senator seats red, removing long standing democrat strongholds.

Contessa Mendoza

secretary

I am a strong conservative from Los Angeles; yes, they exist. I have worked as a social worker for over 25 years and a pastor for 8 years.  I made Bend my home in 2015 while attending ministry school. I was heavily involved in the southern Ca grass roots movement as an activist and pastoral leader where aside from voting and political education efforts, leading people to Christ and holding baptisms was my greatest joy.

Karen Banks

Treasurer

Karen was a registered Independent until 2020 because she did not believe that there should be parties at all - people should just vote their conscience.  She thought long and hard about the request from her friend to change party affiliation and in the end decided to switch to the Republican Party. Karen worked 30+ years (until retiring) as a full cycle bookkeeper for a family owned, and operated real estate company in Bend Oregon.

Dan Tooze

Alternate chair

As 5th generation Oregonian, Dan's family settled in the Oregon City area before Oregon was even a state. He is a business owner, with multiple businesses, including guided fishing tours and private security. As a small business owner for over 30 years, Dan has employed many and has always kept the needs of the community in mind.

His family even set aside part of their land as a wildlife refuge. Dan serves as the president of the board of directors for the refuge.

Tricia Hafner

alternate vice chair

I am Trica Hafner. My husband and I have been married for almost 18 years. We have 5 kiddos, from 1.5 to 15 years old. I work for myself as a labor and postpartum doula.

I have always been a republican but became involved in politics when they first tried to force vaccines on all children for school, removing the current philosophical exemption. I will remain involved to do everything I can to make Oregon a safe and secure place for the future generations.
